Mr Elly Obwaka

Obwaka

Elly Obwaka has been a lecturer in Chemical Engineering since July 2000. He obtained a Master of Science in Engineering degree (Water and Environmental Management) from the former University of Durban-Westville (now University of KwaZulu-Natal). His Dissertation was titled “Modelling of Contaminant Transport in the Bulbul Drive Landfill Site”. He has managed to secure vacation work places in industry – mostly SAPREF and Umgeni Water - for many students.

He serves as Honorary Secretary of the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (now in collaboration with the Institution of Chemical Engineers of the UK) and has provided linkages between academia and industry in the many years he has been affiliated with SAIChE and now SAIChE IChemE.
